Story

Visions Beyond came to me after I experienced two automobile accidents in a month. I was shaken, confused and I could not fathom the many thoughts and feelings I had about mortality. I sat in my kitchen, staring into the mountains in the distance and I heard music. And with the music, I felt purpose. Writing Visions Beyond was like a flash of thunder - the rich textures of the brass, voices, strings and the roaring arpeggios of the piano soared out of me.

Music

Visions Beyond is an experience. It is epic and lush, full of climaxes and sensitivity. The 13-minute album is a succinct work, comprised of 3 pieces - Onward, Everything Slows Down and Visions Beyond.
Visions Beyond is an expansion of the harmonic palette used in my previous album, Heavy Moon. An added brass section deepens the timbre, texture and the impact. However, while harmonic and textural exploration was a focus in the compositional process, the drama and narrative were the driving forces, determining the form and structure of each piece and the overall album.
Subconsciously, through every note I wrote into the score, I felt a conviction that creation is at the heart of our existence - an activity that would bring a deep fulfillment and purpose. I believe this feeling is brought to life through the music.
